Senior Procurement Governance & Policy Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Procurement Governance & Policy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Strategic Procurement and Governance team, you will be responsible for delivering improvements in Procurement and Purchasing practices, driving compliance, and providing optimum value for money.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing compliance to Procurement/Purchasing policies and procedures, notably the Tender and Contract Regulations (TCRs).
  • Identifying corrective actions to address non-compliance and working with Procurement colleagues to implement these and where necessary escalating repeated non-compliance.
  • Leading on updating & communicating tender and contract documents, templates, and guidance in line with any changes to legislation or any recommendations received through internal/external scrutiny.
  • Representing Procurement both internally and externally, and proactively engaging with internal and external stakeholders across the Council to ensure that Procurement is effectively enabling the organisation to conduct its activities in compliance with the Tender and Contract Regulations and national procurement legislation.

Requirements:

  • Working towards your MCIPS qualification, and having up-to-date knowledge of current and prospective public procurement legislation.
  • Experience of contract management as well as managing and improving procurement governance.
