Job Description

This role will involve working as part of our team to deliver engineering and design tasks within assigned areas. This includes interfacing with other disciplines, both technical and non-technical, estimating and planning mechanical engineering tasks, and ensuring that the requirements are correct and adequate.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead our team in delivering high-quality designs and solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of engineering and design tasks, interfacing with other disciplines, and ensuring that the requirements are met. They will also be required to estimate and plan mechanical engineering tasks, and ensure that the design intent and configured baseline are maintained throughout the facility lifecycle.

  • A Degree, HND/HNC or an equivalent vocational qualification, in an engineering discipline supported by considerable practical experience, with or working towards professional registration
  • Experience of preparing technical reports and documentation
  • Awareness of Destructive and Non-destructive testing techniques for product certification and through life monitoring
  • Awareness of the development, testing and evaluation of Engineering designs
  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) including configuration management and quality control
  • A good understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSAWA), Construction Design Management (CDM), risk assessments
  • Experience of Safety Cases or working in a highly regulated (e.g. Nuclear, Pharmaceutical, Oil and Gas) industry would be beneficial
  • Experience of 2D and 3D CAD

The salary for this position is £47,690 - £67,000 per annum, depending on your suitability and level of experience.
