About the Role

This is a critical position within our organisation, responsible for managing a section of the rail network. As a key member of our team, you will be accountable for overseeing the work of in-house teams and contractors, ensuring the successful delivery of our ambitious plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a large maintenance team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to deliver high-quality work.
  • Proactively direct the work of teams delivering inspections, renewals, and maintenance of diverse infrastructure assets, including signalling, track, and electrification.
  • Personally responsible for planning, inspecting, and implementing important tactical works, ensuring they are delivered to performance, cost, and quality targets.
  • Manage budgets and drive engagement and development across the team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal techniques.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both in person and in writing.
  • Comfortable working shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
Desirable Criteria
  • Hold or be working towards an NVQ level 3 or 4 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained an appropriate level of knowledge through equivalent relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of budget management and cost/waste control processes and techniques.
