Spray Painting Technical Lead Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Spray Painting Technical Lead to join our team at Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD. The successful candidate will have a strong background in surface finishing and paint application processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve quality problems related to surface finishing, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work with paint finishing suppliers, contractors, and internal/external engineers to optimize paint application processes and equipment.
  • Optimize new and existing paint application processes to increase productivity and quality while reducing costs.
  • Collaborate with the Production Support team on surface finishing health and safety, training requirements, and improving first-time pass rates.
  • Lead finishing activities associated with new product introductions and special finishes.
  • Ensure all equipment used in the paint application process is properly maintained, serviced, and compliant with regulations.
  • Conduct daily inspections of pre- and post-painted components and provide clear feedback.
  • Analyze surface coating data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain documentation supporting paint application processes.
  • Comply with all health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Provide guidance and advice on painting processes to colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Spray Painting Technical Lead.
  • Experience with water-based and 2K spray finishes.
  • Experience with sanding and polishing processes.
  • Experience working with suppliers on paint-related problem resolution and new paint development.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including LAPPC, HAV, COSHH, and DESEAR.
  • Experience in training others in surface finishing applications.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Wood surface coating experience.
  • Experience with LAPPC Part B Permitting regulations.
  • ATA or Level 3 NVQ equivalent.
  • Maths and English GCSE level 'C' or equivalent.
  • IS09001:2015 experience.
  • Six Sigma green belt.
