Job Title:

Senior Network Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our Digital Infrastructure team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-end networks, with a focus on firewall, routing, WI-FI, and security systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement network infrastructure solutions to meet the evolving needs of our organization
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure IT systems and services meet the required standards
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior engineers in the team
  • Participate in the support of STFC WAN, sites LAN, routing, WI-FI, firewall, and network security
  • Active participation in the support of STFC WAN, sites LAN, routing, WI-FI, firewall, and network security
Requirements:
  • Extensive expertise in LAN and WAN, IP address management, firewalls, and security access control systems
  • Experience in managing and configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 network switches with associated network services such as DNS and DHCP
  • Experience in Extreme Cloud IQ WI-FI management system or equivalent and excellent knowledge of Network Access Control system (preferably Clearpass)
  • Experience in Fibres and Cable management
