Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer (On-Prem/Cloud) to join our team on a permanent basis. This role will be based on-site and will involve working with our team to design, secure, and maintain on-prem/cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and manage the infrastructure that underpins our platforms, applications, and data.
  • Automate infrastructure creation and deployment using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of our systems, including the implementation of security controls and monitoring of infrastructure and threat to security.
  • Work with our team to ensure that development and delivery follows established processes and works as intended.
  • Plan and manage projects, including the design, security, and maintenance of on-prem/cloud infrastructure.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify and mitigate security risks, and implement security controls to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, and contribute to the development of our team's skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Experience in designing, developing, and managing on-prem/cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of security principles and practices, including the implementation of security controls and monitoring of infrastructure and threat to security.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Experience with containerization platforms, provisioning software, and application/infrastructure/data performance analysis and monitoring.
  • Experience with automated deployment of applications, databases, and infrastructure.
  • Understanding of the government digital service (GDS) manual and standards across Discovery/Alpha/Beta/Live phases.
  • Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS technologies, and the implications of their use compared with bespoke development.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with multiple teams, especially security.
  • Solid infrastructure design experience for on-prem environments.
  • Experience with hybrid designs between on-premise and cloud.
  • Strong experience in software development change/release management processes and technical governance.
  • Ability to work with containerization platforms, provisioning software, and application/infrastructure/data performance analysis and monitoring.
  • Experience with automated deployment of applications, databases, and infrastructure.
  • Understanding of the government digital service (GDS) manual and standards across Discovery/Alpha/Beta/Live phases.
  • Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS technologies, and the implications of their use compared with bespoke development.
