The Role

We are seeking an experienced actuarial expert to join our Actuarial Technical Team, based in either Glasgow, Edinburgh, or London. This individual will be responsible for reviewing actuarial calculations and communicating results to team members and client teams, contributing to process efficiency and junior team development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with technical team members and internal client teams to scope work and check data processing, calculation, and statutory reporting for DB pension scheme clients.
  • Review scheme information, including benefit summaries, changes, and previous valuation data.
  • Use our bespoke valuation systems to check actuarial valuations and run individual and global checks on output.
  • Collaborate with team members and the wider business on ad-hoc projects to improve efficiency and develop processes.
  • Support junior team members in developing their actuarial knowledge and skillsets.
  • Maintain knowledge on relevant industry changes impacting daily work.
  • Occasional travel to other Hymans Robertson offices may be required.

Requirements:

  • Proven defined benefit actuarial experience, with support for IFoA exam preparation available.
  • Good to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of the legislative framework and structure of defined benefit pension schemes.
