Job Title: Special Needs Mentor

We are partnering with an outstanding SEN primary school in Crawley to find enthusiastic and proactive individuals to join their team as Special Needs Mentors. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with complex needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, SLD, PMLD, mobility challenges, and sometimes challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group support to pupils with a range of complex needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist in creating a nurturing and structured learning environment that fosters a sense of belonging and inclusion.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored educational and personal development programs that cater to the diverse needs of pupils.
  • Support pupils with physical and mobility needs, ensuring their safety and well-being, and promoting independence and self-advocacy.

  • A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for supporting children with special needs, with a commitment to inclusive education and social justice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a caring nature, with a willingness to adapt to the changing needs of pupils and the school community.
  • Experience with SEN or working with children with additional needs is beneficial, but not essential, as we provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
