About the Role

Polaris Children's Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our team. As a key professional in our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing therapeutic interventions to children in care and care leavers, as well as their foster carers and the professional systems surrounding them.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and therapeutic intervention services to children in care and care leavers
  • Work collaboratively with foster carers, social workers, and other professionals to support placement stability and improved emotional health and wellbeing for the child or young person
  • Deliver training and consultations to the systems around the child or young person
  • Provide therapeutic parenting strategies and workshops to foster carers working with children in care and care leavers
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a safe, high-quality, consistent service for all families
  • Participate in social care meetings and work within an integrated multidisciplinary team

Requirements

  • Hold a Counselling and/or Therapy Qualification (Degree level or above) including completion of 100 hours of supervised practice
  • A registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACAP) or equivalent
  • Maintain clinical supervision each month in line with recognised professional body standards
  • Experience of working with and counselling children and young people
  • Understanding of trauma, attachment, and children in care or care leavers, as well as the THRIVE model
  • Resilient, able to work well under pressure, and organised to manage caseloads
  • Good knowledge of the Children's Act 1989 & 2004 and clear understanding of children's safeguarding
  • Experience of working with professionals, parents, and foster carers
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams
  • A high level of organisation, good written and verbal communication, and holding a UK Full driving license
