About the Role

As a Force Medical Adviser, you will play a crucial role in providing medical expertise to the In-House Occupational Health service for South Yorkshire Police.

This part-time position offers flexibility in terms of remote and onsite working hours, allowing you to balance your work and personal life.

You will be responsible for conducting medical assessments, providing advice, and managing cases related to pre-employment, attendance management, fitness for work, and ill health retirement.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct medical assessments for police recruits and staff applicants.
  • Evaluate eligibility for the police pension fund through medical assessments.
  • Assess fitness for specialist roles involving firearms officers, advanced driving, armed response vehicle operators, HGV, and airside driving.
  • Manage cases, provide opinions on fitness for work, and advise on short- and long-term adjustments for injured police officers and staff.
  • Perform assessments for ill health retirement.
Qualifications and Experience
  • GMC registration is essential.
  • Membership or Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine is required.
  • Extensive experience working as an Accredited Specialist or at consultant level is necessary.
