At South Gloucestershire Council, we are seeking an experienced Transformation Project Manager to join our team. This is a 6-month limited term contract that can be offered as a secondment.

The salary for this position is approximately £60,000 per annum, taking into account the location and industry standards.

About the Role

This post is restricted to permanent and temporary employees of South Gloucestershire Council only.

You will work on key strategic projects to support the council in exploring alternative ways to meet statutory duties for education.

  • As an experienced project manager, you will use a flexible approach to develop, lead, manage and implement a key statutory service redesign.
  • You will drive change across the department to improve outcomes for children and young people that deliver value for money and adhere to statutory obligations.
  • You will research and analyse best practice nationally.
  • Stakeholder engagement is key, and you will engage with Schools, other Local Authorities and Health.
  • You will develop and present options and associated risks for service redesign for Senior Managers and Councillors.
  • It will be your responsibility to plan and implement the agreed option, which could include introducing new ways of working.
What We Need From You
  • Essential requirements include holding a relevant professional qualification, degree or equivalent experience and/or knowledge.
  • You must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • We require you to have skills and experience that demonstrate managing project delivery, including public and stakeholder engagement and risk analysis.
  • You will be able to think strategically and analytically and bring creativity into project delivery.
  • Collaboration and communication with colleagues from across the organisation, including senior officers and elected members, as well as external stakeholders, are crucial.
  • You should demonstrate knowledge of research, development and evaluation techniques and maintain relevant, current knowledge of trends, approaches and methodologies.
  • A knowledge and understanding of Local Authority statutory responsibilities would be advantageous.
