About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Ecologist Consultant to join our dynamic Nature team in Leeds, Newcastle, Cardiff, Birmingham, or Nottingham. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the environment and delivering exceptional ecological programs and projects.

As an Ecologist Consultant, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including species and habitats surveys, biodiversity net gain mentoring, and ecological impact assessments. You will be responsible for organizing and carrying out desk studies and field-based surveys, as well as assisting with the analysis, evaluation, and presentation of ecological data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the health, safety, and well-being culture of the team
  • Support liaison with project managers and clients on the delivery of ecological requirements
  • Organize and carry out desk studies and field-based habitat, botanical, and protected species surveys
  • Assist with managing the technical and financial performance of ecological projects
  • Support with undertaking the analysis, evaluation, interpretation, and presentation of ecological data
  • Perform the role of an Ecological Clerk of Works on construction projects
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with your line manager, other members of the ecology team, and clients
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an ecology-related job role in the public and/or private sector
  • Knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and ecological survey methodologies
  • Field skills with experience in botanical identification and protected species surveys
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to work to meet peaks in demands
  • Report writing skills, with demonstrable experience in producing a range of reports
