Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead our Engineering team in delivering projects at various phases, from FEED to commissioning, or in assistance to Plant Operation in the UK.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and design, with experience in engineering design (development, FEED, detailed design, technical specification, documentation review from supply chain) in the nuclear industry or other regulated sectors.
The role will involve ensuring appropriate and adequate design standards and practices are deployed, and deliverables and solutions generated are safe, legal, and adequately underpinned.
The ideal candidate will have excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of delivering commercially efficient solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring subject matter experts are appropriately and adequately engaged in a timely manner and LFE captured, disseminated, and utilized
- Managing technical studies related to mechanical handling for both handling operations and heavy mechanical transfer systems, powder mechanical processes (transport, milling, and compaction) in high active environment and gloveboxes, compaction, and mechanical dismantling technologies
- Managing the design of mechanical processes, from strategic and conceptual phases to detailed design and construction & commissioning phase support
- Travel may be required on occasion between Client's sites

Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant degree
- 10+ Years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer
- Experience of engineering design (development, FEED, detailed design, technical specification, documentation review from supply chain) in the nuclear industry or other regulated sectors
- Experience of mechanical studies delivery (Mechanical handling, powder technologies) considering manufacture, testing, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, recovery, and decommissioning aspects
- Experience of contractor follow-up in the nuclear industry or other regulated sectors
- Experience of delivering projects for Sellafield or Magnox sites (desirable)
- Member of relevant professional body
- Recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Hold a minimum of 'SC' UK Security Clearance
- Previous experience in a Nuclear Site or other highly regulated site
