The role of Deputy Charge Nurse is a key position within our multidisciplinary team, responsible for assessing patient care needs, evaluating care plans, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care. As a senior nursing professional, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to deliver specific care and take on continuing responsibility for the management of a ward area in the absence of the Charge Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of patient care needs and evaluation of care plans
  • Delivery of high-quality care as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Continuing responsibility for the management of a ward area
  • Maintenance of clinical and staff governance

This role requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

NHS Scotland is reducing its full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024, with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff.
