Wetland Engagement Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wet Farming Engagement Officer to join our team at The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Northamptonshire. As part of the National Lottery Heritage Funded Peatland Progress Project, you will play a pivotal role in leading and delivering engagement activities with land managers, farmers, growers, scientists, policy makers, and the public.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have a key role in explaining and engaging stakeholders in wet farming (Paludiculture) as a concept and an applied practice. You will be instrumental in delivering a range of engagement activities, including onsite visits and offsite outreach, using our innovative 'Mobile Inspiration Hub' or 'Tiny House'. This novel outreach tool, built partially from paludiculture crops, will be a primary means of engaging with our target audience.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver engagement activities to promote wet farming practices
- Lead onsite visits and offsite outreach events
- Utilize the 'Mobile Inspiration Hub' or 'Tiny House' as a primary outreach tool
- Assist in the supervision of short-term Youth Internships in years 3 and 4 of the Peatland Progress project
- Collaborate with the Wet Farming Delivery Officer to ensure seamless project delivery
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in wetland conservation, engagement, and outreach. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. A degree in a relevant field and experience in project management would be advantageous.
