Established in 2019, the Croydon Digital Service (CDS) has adopted a service style to support digital transformation of internal operations and online services for residents. About the Role


We are seeking a Technical Systems Specialist to maintain and support critical line-of-business applications and implement service improvements through effective configuration. Key to this role is working closely with services to understand data requirements and ensuring systems capture necessary information and report effectively.


This role reports to the Housing, Environment, Spatial and Legal Digital Systems Product and Support Manager within Croydon Digital Service, playing a key part in how CDS supports critical business applications for these services, ensuring council services get the most from these systems.


We are interested in motivated IT-literate professionals with experience supporting others using business applications along with a willingness to learn new things to join the Technical Systems Team. Broad experience and skills to complement existing squad members are considered more important than knowledge in specific applications.


Responsibilities:



  • The role involves being a key point of contact between CDS and service users of critical business systems. You will be required to understand and troubleshoot applications, how they are configured to support business processes, and how data is used to support effective statutory and operational reporting.
  • Implement appropriate security controls for users accessing applications and their data.
  • Develop and maintain queries, reports, and dashboards to support production of statutory, financial, performance, or data quality reporting from applications.
  • Participate in and support projects and other requests to upgrade or change applications and robustly test these changes to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Understand and follow service management best practices for application support and maintenance, adopting consistency across the CDS support community.

Experience:


We require experience working on at least one critical line-of-business system, supporting service users managing complex data, and understanding security access controls for key line-of-business systems storing financial and sensitive data. Experience working with data, identifying data quality issues, contributing to data improvement plans, and developing reports and dashboards using industry-standard tools is also essential.


We estimate the salary for this role to be around £45,000 - £55,000 per annum based on the UK average cost of living. Please note that this is an estimate and may vary depending on individual circumstances. If you are successful, we will discuss salary details during the interview process.
