Radiation Physics Department Job Opportunity

The Radiation Physics Department at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled professional to join their team. As a key member of the department, you will be responsible for providing radiation protection and quality assurance of non-ionising radiation installations and equipment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the imaging performance and safety of MRI scanners, ultrasound scanners, UV phototherapy treatment units, lasers, and other hospital EMF sources.
  • Arrange and perform routine area and environmental monitoring, reporting findings to the appropriate MRSE or LPA.
  • Assess the radiation protection and imaging performance aspects of non-ionising radiations medical equipment during commissioning.
  • Evaluate long-term performance of equipment.
Person Specification:Skills:
  • Knowledge and experience of non-ionising radiations legislation, QC, and optimisation techniques.
  • Ability to use Excel, Word, Access, and specialized software to set up documents, spreadsheets, and databases, and extract information.
Qualifications:
  • A good honours degree in Physics or a related subject, and/or equivalent knowledge/experience.
  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist (Medical Physics), or close to completing STP.
  • Full UK driving license.
Knowledge:
  • Understanding of risks arising from imaging and treatment techniques.
  • Understanding of patient and staff risks from non-ionising radiation exposure.
  • Experience working/training in Medical Physics.
