Role Overview:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Costain Group PLC as a Design Safety Engineer. The successful candidate will be part of our team based in Manchester, UK.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Design Safety Engineer with a strong background in chemical engineering and hazardous area classification. You will be responsible for delivering technical safety input to projects and working closely with the project team to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical safety input to projects, including risk assessments and hazardous area classification;
  • Communicate design HSE issues within a project setting effectively;
  • Experience of consequence modelling using PHAST would be advantageous;
  • Champion sustainability, safety, health, and environment by putting personal safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do and helping the environment and communities to thrive;

Requirements:

  • MEng in Chemical Engineering;
  • 3+ years of experience delivering technical safety input to projects;
  • Effective communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this role is around £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a fantastic benefits package, including a pension contribution matched up to 10%.
