About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team as a Boarding House Matron. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive environment, ensuring the welfare of our boarders and the smooth running of the house.

The successful candidate will be part of a small team working closely with the Housemistress to provide excellent care and support to our students. The houses accommodate approximately 60 girl boarders, between the ages of 11-18, who require boarding facilities due to various reasons. Our client values the well-being and development of each student, and we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment that enables them to thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • To work closely with the Housemistress to maintain the overall well-being and discipline of the boarders;
  • To assist in the day-to-day management of the house, including supervising staff and coordinating activities;
  • To ensure the health and safety of the boarders, including administering medication and providing first aid when necessary;
  • To establish and maintain effective relationships with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and any issues that may arise;
  • To participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge, and to share best practices with colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, social work, childcare) or equivalent experience;
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a residential care setting or similar role;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues;
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment;
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, prioritizing the needs of the boarders at all times.
