National Grid is seeking a skilled Electricity Transmission Specialist to join our team. As a key player in the UK's energy infrastructure, we're committed to delivering a cleaner, greener future. With our three-year Advanced Apprenticeship Substations programme, you'll develop the skills and expertise to become a craftsperson in our substations.

You'll work on maintenance techniques for power transformers, main connections, terminals, and various types of joints. Following strict safety guidelines, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and monitoring of high-voltage substation equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, disconnectors, compressors, and auxiliary systems.

By the end of the programme, you'll hold a Level 3 qualification as a Power Industry Substation Fitter, and most importantly, have a job waiting for you. Our starting salary is £23,148, with opportunities for career progression and professional growth.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and repair of high-voltage substation equipment
  • Development of skills and expertise in power transmission and distribution
  • Contribution to the smooth operation of our substations and the overall electricity transmission network
