NES Fircroft is currently seeking a Principal Control Engineer for a prominent client working on a major power plant refurbishment project.

This long-term contract position offers a hybrid work arrangement with office locations in Wolverhampton or Warrington.

Job Scope
  • Support engineering activities related to DCS, PLC, SCADA systems, and process instrumentation for nuclear applications.
  • Design and sizing of data acquisition and process components, including identification of hardware platforms and software code solutions.
Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure design activities are executed according to C&I engineering principles and best practices.
  • Oversee manufacturing, factory acceptance tests, on-site installation, and testing activities for C&I systems and components.
  • Support on-site installation activities for C&I works.
  • Coordinate and supervise mono-disciplinary working groups, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure technical and personal skills development.
  • Identify and manage internal and external interfaces within the project delivery framework.
  • Support project managers, project engineers, and working groups in defending C&I design positions and solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Five to ten years of experience in C&I systems engineering in nuclear companies or highly regulated industrial sectors.
  • Design experience in DCS/PLC panels, cable lists, and field JB terminations.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical norms and standards, control/electrical cabinet schematic design software, and nuclear-specific codes and standards for safety applications.
  • Experience in electrical on-site works, including development of construction and commissioning documentation.
  • Programming experience in PLCs, NI LabView, and ABB platforms/controllers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, quality, accuracy, and adaptability.
  • Good knowledge of English language.
