Job Title: Principal Engineer - Metrology Specialist Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements to suit your needs. Job Summary: As a Principal Engineer - Metrology Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the ICS Dimensional team in the calibration, maintenance, and repair of precision measurement equipment. You will contribute to the development of calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets, and drive the implementation of quality audits and certifications. Key Responsibilities: * Lead the ICS Dimensional team in the calibration, maintenance, and repair of precision measurement equipment * Develop and implement calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets * Drive the implementation of quality audits and certifications * Collaborate with the Calibration department to ensure the effective use of resources and equipment * Provide technical guidance and support to team members Requirements: * Extensive experience working in a precision dimensional calibration/metrology laboratory environment * Understanding of quality systems and standards (ISO 17025/ISO 9001) * Relevant academic qualification (STEM degree, HNC/HND) or equivalent Desirable: * Existing UKAS signatory status for Dimensional Calibration * Knowledge in creation of measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level * Demonstrable use of automation software (PC Dimis, Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview) Benefits: * Competitive salary and benefits package * Opportunity to work with a leading company in the field of precision measurement * Collaborative and inclusive work environment About BAE Systems: BAE Systems is a global leader in the field of precision measurement, providing innovative solutions to customers around the world.
