About Your Logistics Role with Elis

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversee the implementation of company vision, values, and policies across all operations.
  • Support the Logistics Manager in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain compliance with Operator Licence, site, EU, and other regulatory requirements for vehicles and drivers, striving for a continually improved working environment.
  • Conduct and implement risk assessments on customer premises for significant changes/new business as advised by the relevant customer account team.
  • Respond promptly to requests from other departments and drivers with effective solutions and answers.
  • Manage stock levels to ensure business continuity (e.g., daily driver defect book, tacho rolls, windscreen cleaner, uniform).
  • Ensure that drivers meet the required level of customer service that aligns with agreed plans for optimal service levels.
  • Monitor the maintenance plan for all vehicles and ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Achieve route optimisation savings and maintain profitable routes, minimising agency driver usage.
  • Analyse and implement corrective actions using current systems where applicable (e.g., FTA Vision, TMS2 data, Telematics, Dynamics, GLAD, SOL) to resolve logistics issues, eliminating inefficient supply and distribution routes, quality of service, customer losses, and continually improving working practices (e.g., weight checking, mileage/km fuel consumption, accuracy and timeliness of deliveries to customers).
  • Lead, manage, control, and develop personnel (including absence, disciplinary, PDR process, driver infringements, grievance, Health and Safety Training, driver assessments) using SMART objectives during regular review and feedback meetings.
  • Develop, propose, and agree functional budgets with the Logistics Manager, monitoring and controlling activities according to the agreed functional budget, investigating and resolving any variances.
  • Contribute to reducing the environmental impact, e.g., achieving optimal efficiency and economy on routes with targets per mile/km.
  • Ensure driver compliance with site EN14065 standard, e.g., drivers disinfect vehicles daily.
  • Guarantee that Service Agent KPIs (service, reducing loss of business, and increasing new business) are met.
Key Requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (clarity of speech and friendly tone).
  • Flexible and proactive attitude, able to respond quickly to customer needs.
  • Ability to influence peer group and department team members to build and lead effective working teams.
  • Good attention to detail and analytical skills to continuously improve the department and/or team.
  • Organisational skills to ensure tasks are completed on time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in lean (Six Sigma) implementation in lean manufacturing systems (desired).
  • A valid HGV 2 licence/A valid UK Drivers Licence, minimum 1 year (desired).
  • CPC holder.
  • Previous supervisory experience of 2 to 3 years (desired but not essential).
  • Maths and English to GCSE level (Grade C and above) or vocational training.
  • Health & Safety regulation exposure in a previous role.
  • No more than 6 points on driving licence.
