Technical Computing Degree Apprentice

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our Design and Development team as a Technical Computing Degree Apprentice. This exciting opportunity will allow you to develop your skills in software engineering while working on real-world projects.

About the Role:

  • Liaise with our world-class team of design engineers, operations personnel, and business group members on technical matters.
  • Develop technical software for design engineering in the field of optics.
  • Administer and enhance our company-wide PLM system, working closely with vendors and technical experts.
  • Provide 3rd party software support to design engineers.

Requirements:

  • High level of general education.
  • Minimum of 2 x B grades at A-Level (excluding General Studies).
  • Proficiency with Mathematics and Physics.
  • GSCE qualifications in Mathematics and Science at grade B or above, and English at grade C or above.
  • Highly computer literate.

Proposed Course:

  • Applied Software Engineering Degree Apprenticeship BSc (Hons)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical software for design engineering in the field of optics.
  • Administer and enhance our company-wide PLM system, working closely with vendors and technical experts.
  • Provide 3rd party software support to design engineers.

Personal Specification:

  • Strong attention to detail, good inter-personal skills, and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time-keeping.
  • Driving Licence.
  • Ability to time manage completing external qualifications while working full-time.
