About the Role
As a Castle Guide with Historic Environment Scotland, you will be responsible for providing information and insights to visitors about the history and significance of Stirling Castle.
This is a fixed-term appointment up until 31 March 2026, with a likely start date in April 2024. You will work closely with other members of the team to deliver exceptional visitor experiences and help bring Scotland's dramatic history to life.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for sharing knowledge about Scotland's past. If you are looking for a flexible seasonal job that is both fun and unique, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
You will be required to educate and provide information to enhance the visitors' experience, helping them to make the most of their visit to the castle. This includes providing detailed information about the castle's history, its role in Scotland's past, and its ongoing importance today.
Stirling Castle has a rich and varied history, having served as a royal residence, military garrison, prison, and fortress. With links to the lives of William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, Mary Queen of Scots, and Bonnie Prince Charlie, it is an exciting and historic place to work.
In return for your hard work and dedication, you can expect a competitive salary of around £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
