Custody Detention Officer

Supporting the Police in Custody Suites

We are seeking a Custody Detention Officer to join our team at Mitie, working alongside the Police in custody suites. As a Custody Detention Officer, you will provide care and support to detainees, completing forensic samples and working with other agencies to support rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support detainees during their time in custody
• Complete forensic samples as required
• Work with other agencies to support rehabilitation
• Use a computer and various programs competently during your working day

Requirements:

• Previous experience working within the police/security/armed forces would be beneficial
• Reasonable level of spoken and written English and basic numeracy
• Competent in IT and using a computer
• Full valid driving licence
• Lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
• Have valid British passport/settled status
• All candidates are subject to police vetting checks - clean driving/criminal record is essential

Training and Development:

Once you have passed our selection and vetting process, you will begin your Police Services career by completing a 3-week initial training course (ITC) Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm on FULL PAY. You will then have continued development opportunities.

What We Offer:

• Salary of £26, on a 4-shift on (2 days, 2 nights) then 4-shift off pattern rota's 2 years in advance so you can plan your life. (Averages 42 hours per week)

A Little More About the Role...

The custody suites can be an energetic place to work, with no two shifts the same. Whilst detained, we provide individuals with all their physical, mental healthcare and wellbeing needs. As well has escorting detainees, making recorded observations as per their individual plan, you will work with colleagues and the Police to deal with any detainee that is a risk of harming themselves.

You will be working in a small team alongside Police Officers: whilst also having the support of experienced Senior Custody Detention Officers to learn from.
