About the Role

The Metals Safety Specialist will be based at the company's site near Matlock, commutable from Chesterfield, Bakewell, Buxton, and Alfreton.

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to review HSE incidents, identifying causes and agreeing on corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Health and Safety laws, communicating changes in legislation, and ensuring the company remains compliant with legal requirements.
  • Organise internal and external safety audits and inspections, ensuring actions from audits are completed on time.
  • Assist in accident investigations, including reporting under RIDDOR and conducting out-of-hours site visits when necessary.
  • Provide health and safety training, promote safety education, and foster a strong safety culture aligned with ISO 45001:2015 standards.
  • Manage specific safety programs (e.g., Hand Arm Vibration, Lead Exposure), liaise with external agencies (HSE, Insurance, etc.), and provide necessary information for claims or regulatory compliance.

Your Background

  • Nebosh General Certificate or Diploma qualified.
  • Chemicals/heavy industry experience.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a Health and Safety role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Calm under pressure.
