Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our inpatient mental health service in Luton. As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will work closely with our experienced Specialist OT to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Main Duties of the Job

As an Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for providing specialist assessment and intervention for adults within the unit. You will utilise assessment and evaluation tools drawn from the Model of Human Occupation to support and enable individuals to achieve their goals in self-care, productivity, and leisure.

About the Role

You will work as part of a well-established multi-disciplinary team to further develop the role of Occupational Therapy and enhance the OT programme. This will involve 1:1 intervention, group work, and enabling clients to access relevant local community resources to support discharge.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • State Registration
  • Fieldwork Educator Training
  • Member of College of Occupational Therapists

Desirable

  • Post qualifying experience in Mental Health
  • Experience of working with people experiencing mental health problems
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting and enabling people with complex needs

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Carry out culturally sensitive Occupational Therapy Assessment with good treatment process skills
  • Good clinical reasoning skills
  • Ability to undertake clinical risk assessment, management, and reduction

Desirable

  • Good interpersonal skills enabling therapeutic alliances to be developed and maintained with clients
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
