Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Opportunity

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dynamic school in Gateshead. As a key member of the education team, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers in planning and delivering lessons, leading small group activities, and providing one-to-one support for pupils who need extra help.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement effective lesson plans.
  • Lead small group activities and interventions to support pupil progress.
  • Provide individualized support to pupils who require additional assistance.
  • Supervise whole classes during teacher absences.
  • Contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Work closely with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or similar role.
  • A recognized HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with a passion for education.
  • Up-to-date CV and enhanced DBS registration (or willingness to apply).
