Job Summary:
Chelmsford City Council is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Licensing Officer to join its Licensing team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with various licensing legislation, including the Licensing Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2005.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and evaluate licensing applications, conducting thorough checks and investigations as necessary.
- Coordinate the representation process, compiling reports and presenting findings to committees and tribunals.
- Provide expert advice to license holders, the public, and council officers on licensing requirements and regulations.
- Investigate complaints, gathering and recording evidence and intelligence to inform further action.
- Support legal representatives at appeal, tribunals, and magistrates' courts.
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently to deadlines.
- Systematic approach and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and external partners.
- Full UK car driving license and access to a vehicle, with flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as necessary.
Working Arrangements:
The successful candidate will be based at the Civic Centre, with the opportunity to work collaboratively with the Licensing team and other departments within Chelmsford City Council.
