About the Role:

As an Ark Start nursery manager, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and safe environment for young children to thrive. You will lead the implementation of our carefully designed early-years curriculum, ensuring that every child receives a balanced mix of play-based and adult-led learning.

Key Responsibilities

General

  • Develop and maintain a high-quality nursery environment that meets the needs of all children
  • Implement the Ark Start model, including curriculum, forest school, and family programme
  • Ensure compliance with all Ark Start and statutory policies
  • Stay up-to-date with the EYFS statutory framework and child development
  • Lead nursery improvement and engage in regular coaching and monitoring
  • Promote the safety and welfare of children and young people
  • Participate in training and network activities
  • Build relationships with the host school, local authority, and other organisations
  • Liaise with colleagues and external contacts
  • Ensure accurate management information
  • Communicate effectively with parents
  • Ensure the nursery meets Ark Start expectations and values
  • Perform other reasonable tasks as directed by your line manager
  • Be the Designated SENDCo and DSL, ensuring safeguarding policies are up-to-date and followed

Line Management

  • Lead and deploy staff to ensure exceptional provision
  • Use data to inform teaching and learning, identify areas for intervention, and provide feedback
  • Deploy staff to ensure exceptional provision for children
  • Train, coach, and supervise staff to ensure ongoing improvement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues as a team member

Provision

  • Lead planning to meet the needs of all children
  • Ensure full occupancy and operate the nursery at break-even
  • Oversee child assessments and moderation
  • Manage behaviour to create a safe and respectful environment
  • Develop a strong nursery community through family workshops and programmes
