About the Role

SSE Thermal is driving the energy transition with innovative solutions for a low-carbon future. As a key member of our Thermal Engineering and Asset Management team, you will play a crucial role in delivering flexible energy and spearheading the transition to a sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform process analysis and performance optimization across components and entire plants/systems.
  • Model and simulate thermal power, gas storage, carbon capture, hydrogen production, and other systems.
  • Develop early-stage concept designs, including derivation of key input/output data for internal governance and planning applications.
  • Provide technical authority for concept stage, detailed design, and execution phase, responsible for process input/outputs, performance & capability guarantees, heat & mass balances, P&IDs, system functionality & component sizing.
Requirements
  • Degree-qualified engineer with experience in thermal power and/or gas storage process engineering.
  • Strong technical skills and a detailed understanding of technical/commercial interactions.
  • Ability to interact with diverse departments and teams.
  • Highly motivated and committed with strong interpersonal skills.
