We are seeking a dedicated Science Teacher to join our team at a well-established secondary school in Portsmouth. Our school values diversity and inclusivity, providing students with a supportive learning environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching and Learning: Deliver engaging lessons to students in KS3 and KS4, adhering to the national curriculum and promoting a deep understanding of Science concepts.
  • Lesson Planning and Assessment: Plan, prepare, and assess work to ensure students meet their individual targets and make progress towards achieving their full potential.
  • Classroom Management: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, respect, and academic excellence.
  • Student Progress: Monitor and track student progress, providing timely feedback and support to ensure students make progress and achieve their goals.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues to develop schemes of work, ensuring continuity and progression in Science learning and promoting a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.
  • Professional Development: Participate in regular staff meetings, CPD opportunities, and whole-school activities to enhance professional practice and contribute to the school's continued improvement.

Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
  • A relevant degree in Science or a related field.
  • Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 Science in a UK secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in at least one branch of Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • A passion for education and a student-centred approach to teaching.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Ability to use assessment data to inform planning and improve student outcomes.
  • A clear enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
