Department Head C&I Position

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Head for our C&I team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing and leading the instrument and control engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the instrument and control engineering team, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Supervise and allocate work to engineers and designers, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Prepare scopes of work and estimates to support proposals, working closely with the business development team.
- Deliver the engineering design scope to budgets and programmes, ensuring that all design work is completed to the required quality standards.
- Co-ordinate and liaise with other engineering disciplines and client/package vendors, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Design authority for all instrument and control systems, ensuring that all design work is completed to the required quality standards.
- Prepare, check and/or approve design calculations, specifications, data sheets, reports, scope of work and drawings to British/International Standards and Codes of Practice.
- Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and client standards, ensuring that all work is completed to the required quality standards.
- Provide specialist design input to 3D models, working closely with the design team.
- Prepare Technical Analysis of proposals provided by equipment manufacturers and contractors, ensuring that all analysis is completed to the required quality standards.
- Interpret vendor and other discipline drawings/information, ensuring that all information is correctly interpreted and implemented.
- Attend and participate in safety reviews, risk reviews, planning reviews, model reviews and constructability reviews, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify and raise scope changes, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Comply with Company Quality Manager Systems, ensuring that all work is completed to the required quality standards.
About You
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Department Head with a strong background in instrument and control engineering. You will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in this field, preferably in oil and gas, chemicals and/or other high hazard process industries.
Key Requirements
- Appropriate technical engineering degree and preferably a chartered engineer with an appropriate institution.
- Minimum of 10 years of instrument and control experience, preferably in oil and gas, chemicals and/or other high hazard process industries.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ability to allocate work appropriately to design staff and monitor progress to meet project needs.
- Ability to work in both design office and operating plant environments, ensuring that all work is completed to the required quality standards.
- Comfortable dealing directly with both clients and vendors at all levels of the business.
- Expertise using MS Office suite and some knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of ATEX and equipment for electrically hazardous areas.
- Knowledge or experience of Functional Safety, preferably holding a suitable FS qualification.
