VAT Accountant

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled VAT Accountant to join our team at Michael Page (UK). As a VAT Accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of a local Private school.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns for the Private school
- Maintenance of VAT records and accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Liaising with HMRC on VAT-related matters, ensuring timely and effective communication
- Providing VAT advice to internal departments, ensuring alignment with company policies
- Assisting with VAT audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
- Staying up-to-date with changes in VAT legislation and regulations, ensuring the Private school remains compliant
- Contributing to the development of VAT strategies and policies, ensuring alignment with company goals
- Assisting in the training of staff on VAT matters, ensuring knowledge sharing and best practices
Requirements
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a strong understanding of VAT principles
- Working towards a professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning
- Proficiency in VAT accounting, with experience in preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal departments
- Knowledge of VAT legislation and regulations, with the ability to stay up-to-date with changes
