Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Allied Health Professional to join our Clinical Education team as a Clinical Education Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of high-quality practice placements for Allied Health Professions and support the growth of our AHP apprenticeship strategy.

Main Duties
  • Work with the Healthcare Support Workforce Development and AHP Apprenticeship Lead to implement local, regional, and national education and development strategies for AHP apprentices and unregistered AHPs.
  • Support the recruitment and retention of AHPs by providing robust development programs.
  • Facilitate the training and development of practice educators and mentors to enable them to support pre-registration students and apprentices throughout the training program.
  • Evaluate the programs of support for apprentices, pre-registration students, and provide written reports.
  • Keep up to date with best practice in AHP Practice Education.
  • Support the recruitment of newly qualified therapists through innovative ways such as the graduate recruitment scheme.
  • Practice in accordance with trust standards/policies and statutory requirements.
  • Responsible for resources relating to training and development, including procurement and maintenance of resources for training.

Person Specification
  • Degree-educated Registered AHP with current HCPC registration.
  • Practice educator training.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Relevant clinical courses/transferable skills.
Skills and Abilities
  • Awareness of current recommendations and initiatives for AHP education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft applications (PowerPoint and Excel, Word etc).
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize own workload.
  • Ability to demonstrate and assess a range of clinical skills.
  • Work on own initiative and to deadlines.
  • Ability to work remotely and autonomously.
  • Ability to motivate staff to work effectively in teams.
  • Ability to work as part of the wider education team.
  • Report writing.
  • Writing policies and guidelines.
  • Be flexible and adaptable at work to meet competing demands.
