About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our team at the Planning Inspectorate. As a key member of our Finance Business Partnership Team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our Finance function and supporting our business areas in making informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet with business area managers to provide financial guidance and support their decision-making processes.
  • Line manage a team of two Management Accountants, overseeing their day-to-day activities, providing coaching and mentoring, and ensuring their career development.
  • Assist in preparing Business Cases for major projects, including Digital and Data initiatives.
  • Support ad-hoc project work, such as Spending Review Supplementary Estimates, involving scenario modeling and stakeholder engagement.
  • Operational work: Understand operational activities, ensure financial plans are aligned, and communicate financial implications of decisions.
Requirements
  • Full professional qualification in accountancy (UK CCAB or CIMA) with current membership of a professional body.
  • Experience in effective relationship and stakeholder management, with the ability to persuade, influence, and motivate others.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to describe complex technical issues in a clear, non-technical way.
  • Experience in budget setting in a time-pressured environment, using various tools and knowledge of business intelligence.
  • Sound problem-solving skills and robust analytical and interpretative skills.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate and apply new techniques and knowledge.
Desirable Criteria
  • A recognized Finance Business Partner qualification.
  • Working with SAP and outsourced shared service centers.
