About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Governance and Compliance Officer to join our team at Bond Williams Professional Recruitment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering professional governance services and advice to Local Academy Boards, collaborating effectively with the Chair, Principal, and governors to ensure that the LAB meets its roles and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Principal and Chair to prepare meeting agendas and ensure effective governance practices.
  • Act as clerk for meetings, taking minutes and noting decisions to maintain accurate records.
  • Coordinate updates on agreed actions with the senior leadership team to ensure seamless implementation.
  • Provide governance advice during meetings to support informed decision-making.
  • Support remote and in-person meetings, traveling as needed to ensure effective communication.
  • Assist with clerking panel meetings, including suspensions, exclusions, complaints, and appeals.
  • Maintain governance records and ensure local governance information is accurate in the governance system.
  • Liaise on governor vacancies and assist with onboarding to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Monitor and report governor attendance, updating records accordingly to maintain accurate records.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in governance and compliance, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. You will also need to have a good understanding of governance practices and procedures, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
