About the Role:

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Transformation Unit is seeking a skilled individual to fill the role of Practice Development and Education Lead. This position plays a pivotal part in aligning practice development, education, and training activities for non-medical staff.

The successful candidate will lead in identifying education and training needs of staff and plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities for students, new starters, and existing non-medical staff within the NOTSSCaN Division.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Education and Training: The selected individual will work a minimum of 40% of their time as supernumerary, providing support, education, and opportunities for staff development.
  • Nursing Education Team Management: They will lead and manage the Nursing Education Team in the Neuro ICU, reviewing and developing education activities.
  • Educational Planning: They will participate in the annual review and development of the strategic education plan for non-medical staff.
Detailed Job Description:
  • L&D Environment: The ideal candidate will promote an environment that encourages learning and sustains personal and professional development of all non-medical staff within Neuro ICU.
  • Oxford Model Utilisation: They will utilise the Oxford Model for exemplary professional nursing and midwifery practice in promoting education for non-medical staff.
  • Training Needs Identification: The selected individual will lead in the identification of training and education needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities.
  • Competency-Based Programmes: They will develop and evaluate competency-based programmes for non-medical staff.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: They will utilise coaching and mentoring skills in the development of others.
  • Research and Quality Improvement: They will participate in and contribute to research and quality improvement projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse: A Registered Nurse with a first degree in Nursing.
  • PG Cert Adult Critical Nursing: A PG Cert in Adult Critical Nursing or equivalent.
  • Leadership Experience: A minimum of 4 years' experience, including 1 year as CPE.
  • Educational Passion: Passionate about education as a tool to improve quality of care.
  • Teaching Qualification: Working towards a recognised post-registration teaching qualification.
  • Leadership Programme Completion: Completion of a leadership development programme or equivalent.
  • Educational Programme Evaluation: Evidence of development and evaluation of educational programmes.
