Chief Energy Policy Strategist, Renewable Energy Leader

About the Role
We are seeking a Chief Energy Policy Strategist to join our team at the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional to shape and deliver the organisation's policy agenda and public affairs activity.
As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for navigating the UK political landscape, ensuring that we establish ourselves as a high-impact player in the energy market. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping our positions on policy matters, horizon-scanning and identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a senior in-house policy and communications role, ideally within the energy sector or a related industry. You will have a proven track record of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to influence at the highest levels.
This role requires strong understanding of UK government policy processes, good political acumen, and experience in policy development, legislative processes, and parliamentary engagement. You will lead and oversee the implementation of stakeholder engagement and public affairs strategy, building and maintaining trust with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establishing and leading a high-performing policy and external affairs function, including a media team.
- Shaping the development of our strategy, culture, values, and operating model as part of the Great British Energy leadership team.
- Navigating the UK political landscape to establish us as a high-impact player in the energy market.
- Leading the development and execution of public-facing campaigns underpinned by rigorous research and policy insights.
You will be passionate about delivering clean energy, driving economic growth, creating UK jobs and supply chains, and providing value for the UK taxpayer. We offer a competitive salary of £76,000, flexible working arrangements, and a range of benefits.
Salary
£76,000 per annum, plus benefits.
