Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Evidence Informatics Specialist to lead our developmental workstream on evidence informed practice. As part of the Public Health Knowledge and Intelligence team, you will play a key role in developing a systematic approach for guiding colleagues, providing training and support on finding and applying evidence to inform decisions and processes, and developing research infrastructure including governance, to support research proposals and their delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver research awareness and knowledge mobilisation activities to promote the value of research and evidence to inform practice across the Council.
  • Facilitate and provide training on finding and using evidence, ensuring that colleagues have the necessary skills and knowledge to make informed decisions.
  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the Council's research readiness, identifying development needs with regards to research culture, collaboration, dissemination and infrastructure.
  • Support the development of research infrastructure and processes, enabling the Council to effectively embed research across all directorates responsible for functions related to wider health determinants.
  • Foster a network of research practitioners, facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing among colleagues interested in research and providing access to relevant guidance, support and training.
  • Demonstrate expertise in applied research and evaluation methods applicable to public health, including wider determinants of health, and knowledge of research funding systems, application processes and governance.
  • Design and deliver training and knowledge mobilisation activities related to research and finding and using evidence to inform practice, leveraging your project management skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Strong background in applied research and evaluation methods applicable to public health, including wider determinants of health.
  • Knowledge of research funding systems, application processes and governance.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training and knowledge mobilisation activities related to research and finding and using evidence to inform practice.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience.
