Job Title: Special Educational Needs Support Worker - Hearing Impairment Unit

Job Type: Full-time, 8:15 am - 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday

Contract: Long-term

We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Support Worker to provide invaluable support to students with hearing impairments in our Hearing Impairment Unit. The successful candidate will work 1-1 or in small groups, facilitating the academic and social development of deaf students aged 11-16 years.

About Our School:

Our school caters to students aged 11-16 years, providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide tailored support to deaf students, both 1-1 and in small groups, to facilitate their learning and development.
  2. Collaborate with the teaching staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching materials as needed.
  3. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages the social integration of students with hearing impairments.
  4. Assist in the use and maintenance of hearing aids, assistive technology, and other resources required for students' specific needs.
  5. Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to ensure the well-being and progress of students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with hearing impairments is desirable but not essential.
  • A relevant qualification in Special Education or a related field is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special educational needs.

Rate: Rate dependant on qualifications and experience.
