About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Garment Technologist to join our menswear team at our head office in Manchester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation and conduct of in-house fit sessions, balancing speed and quality.
  • Assist in the sealing process while ensuring samples are processed efficiently.
  • Ensure that samples conform to the original tech pack/previous fit comments for future seal stages.
  • Analyze and advise on technical fit issues, communicating accurate comments to suppliers.
  • Liaise with Senior Garment Techs, Designers, Buyers, and Suppliers to provide technical guidance on new product development and garment construction, aiming to reduce time, returns, cost, and improve quality.
  • Advise on fabrications for specific size specs at design and sign-off stage prior to sampling, supporting the discovery of new silhouettes for product development.
  • Assist in developing blocks and fits for styles quarterly, in-line with design meetings.
  • Effectively liaise with suppliers and work alongside their pattern cutting teams.
  • Assist with relevant testing, recording, and resolving any issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Review returns and faulty reports on a weekly basis, analyzing data and resolving/highlighting any quality issues with suppliers and implementing solutions.
  • Undertake audits by spot checking products and reporting findings.
  • Deliver continuous improvement and creative solutions, overseeing compliance long-term across Suppliers.
  • Promote quality at all times.

Requirements:

  • A technically oriented qualification (preferably degree level) is essential, as is a minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar role in a fast-paced fashion environment.
  • Experience working directly with factories and a thorough understanding of factory production, including workflow, production control, and equipment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of menswear, fitting, and fit issues is essential.
  • Pattern-cutting knowledge and practice are desirable; knowledge of grading and grade rules is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of garment construction, fabric technology, and testing.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude towards challenges and implement solutions.
  • Strong time-management skills; able to prioritize tasks and be flexible.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear concise communication is a must, both written and verbally.
  • Confident using Outlook and Excel.

Salary: £32,500 per annum
