About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Counselling and Mental Health Officer to join our team at University Centre Leeds. As a key member of our student support team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality mental health and counselling services to our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-person and remote counselling and mental health support to students, working within a multi-disciplinary team to offer a comprehensive support service.
  • Manage a caseload of students requiring ongoing assistance, providing time-limited counselling, support, and regular review of support needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and organisations to establish effective working relationships and provide students with access to appropriate support and care packages.
  • Collaborate with other areas of the Student Support team to ensure seamless support for students with multiple needs.
  • Design and deliver mental health training and development courses for staff, providing guidance on student mental health issues.

About You

  • Professional qualification in counselling at Diploma level 4 or above, or equivalent mental health professional practice qualification.
  • Registration with a relevant professional body, such as the BACP, or willingness to register.
  • Previous experience of offering counselling services and delivering mental health and wellbeing services in a college or educational environment.
