About the Role

The Events Development Officer will be responsible for managing a seamless process of support to encourage a wide-ranging portfolio of events within the County. This will involve communicating directly with stakeholders across the region to ensure the successful delivery of events.

The post holder will also support the Senior Events Officer to deliver initiatives which support the wider delivery of the Culture Strategy, Destination Plan and the emerging Neath Port Talbot Events Strategy.

Main Duties

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on the feasibility of new outdoor events.
  • Devise, deliver and manage events and festivals run by the council.
  • Provide expert advice and assistance to event organisers to deliver safe, well attended and well managed events.
  • Design a programme of support and seek funding to upskill event organisers.
  • Liaise with departments across the Council to facilitate a seamless service to event organisers.
  • Actively participate in the Safety Advisory Group process.
  • Monitor events and feed information into the Commercial Marketing, Tourism and Corporate Communications Teams.
  • Undertake detailed review and evaluation processes for events delivered by the Council.
  • Develop close working relationships with commercial and community event organisers and promoters.
  • Engage and communicate regularly with local partners, government bodies and local Councillors.

Requirements

  • Experience in organising and managing events.
  • Experience of dealing with the public.
  • A basic understanding of statutory and legislative requirements.
  • Experience of working in partnership to achieve common aims.
