Robert Gordon University is seeking a highly skilled CCUS Engineer to join our team as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate. This is a unique opportunity to fast-track your career development and work on a collaborative project between North Sea Well Engineering Limited and Robert Gordon University.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing novel frameworks and models for assessing the risk of corrosion and CO2 leakage during injection and storage of CO2 in abandoned legacy wells. This will involve a multi-physics modelling approach that accounts for geology, geochemistry, geomechanics, and fluid flow, validated with experimental laboratory investigations.
As a CCUS Engineer, you will work closely with industrial and academic mentors to gain valuable experience and broaden your knowledge and expertise within an industrially relevant project. You will also receive extensive practical and formal training, gain marketable skills, and benefit from a Personal Development Budget of £6,000.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading university and a global well engineering and subsurface consultancy, and to contribute to the development of innovative solutions for complex CCUS problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop novel frameworks and models for assessing the risk of corrosion and CO2 leakage
- Work on a collaborative project between North Sea Well Engineering Limited and Robert Gordon University
- Conduct experimental laboratory investigations to validate multi-physics models
- Work closely with industrial and academic mentors to gain valuable experience and broaden your knowledge and expertise

- Strong background in fluid flow, geochemical reactions, and geomechanical failure
- Experience with complex multi-physics modelling
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
