The Role

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our retail team as a Store Assistant. As an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, working collaboratively with the team to achieve sales and fundraising targets, and maintaining high standards of shop presentation and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer queries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work as an integral part of the shop team to achieve ambitious sales and fundraising targets, including managing stock, processing transactions, and maintaining visual merchandising standards.
  • Assist with maintaining shop standards, including health and safety, safeguarding compliance, and visual presentation.
  • Create relationships with local community members and Cancer Research UK colleagues, promoting the charity's brand and values.
  • Support fundraising events and activities to achieve fundraising targets, including promoting the charity's work and engaging with customers.
  • Take keyholder responsibility as required, including opening and closing the shop, managing cash handling, and ensuring the shop is secure and well-presented.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing role, preferably in a retail or sales environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and tasks.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to handle cash and process transactions accurately.
  • Ability to lift and move stock, and work in a fast-paced environment.
