CNC Machinist Position

Located in our Machine Shop at NOV Process and Flow Control, you will be responsible for programming and operating CNC machines. As a CNC Machinist, you will work closely with the Production Manager to ensure the efficient production of components to meet customer standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture components to standards and procedures set out by NOV and its customers.
  • Ensure all defects to materials, components, or equipment are reported to the Production Manager as required by company procedures.
  • Liaise with the Production Manager on any customer, project, or other issues arising.
  • Report any Environmental and Health & Safety issues that arise.
  • Train apprentices.
  • Ensure all relevant drawings, procedures, and instructions are up to date prior to any work commencing.
  • Ensure that all gauges, gauge procedures are correct and current prior to use.
  • Aid Project Engineers in the selection of tooling and capital equipment.
  • Be involved in Environmental and Health & Safety issues.
  • Aid in the creation of risk assessments as and when required.
  • Aid in the proposal and introduction of new machining techniques/machines to improve productivity or safety.
  • Ensure personal compliance with all HSE Legislation and HSE Company Policy.
  • Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by Line Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent work experience on CNC machines.

Experience:

  • Experience of Premium Threading.
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings/specifications etc.
  • Practical experience on CNC or Manual machines.

Skills, Training & Specialist Knowledge:

  • Use of CNC Machine Tools.
  • Programming of CNC Machine Tools.
  • Ability to use Inspection equipment and specialized premium thread gauges.
  • Full understanding of various methods of manufacture.
  • Skills in planning methods of machining.
  • Ability to use lifting equipment effectively.
  • Understanding of Environment and Health & Safety.
  • Competent level of understanding in: Engineering drawings Engineering terminologies Machine Tool Tooling
