We are seeking a skilled and compassionate pharmacy technician to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a pharmacy technician, you will play a crucial role in patient care, working closely with our pharmacy team to provide a clinical and ward-based medicines management service.

Main Duties

As a pharmacy technician, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing a clinical and ward-based medicines management service to clinical areas within the directorate.
  • Liaising with and training nursing, medical, and pharmacy staff regarding medication management issues and the safe use or storage of medication, including PODs.
  • Becoming an accredited Medicines Management Technician, or completing reaccreditation in order to transfer skills where appropriate.
  • Working with the ward team to ensure safe storage of medicines at ward level, including temperature checks and appropriate storage of controlled drugs.
  • Working as part of the dispensary team to facilitate the efficient and effective discharge of patients from their clinical area out of the hospital environment by participation in the dispensary rotas, including a minimum of 25% of time providing daily dispensary support.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in hospital or community pharmacy.
  • Professional Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Must be ACT accredited.
  • NVQ3 in Pharmaceutical Services or Equivalent.
