Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified clinician to join an enthusiastic cardiology team and develop the provision of general cardiology and electrophysiology clinics, cardiology in-reach, and pacing services at Kingston Hospital.

The post will involve supporting the cardiac pacing service, providing arrhythmia and general cardiology clinics, cover for inpatient care on the cardiology ward, and cardiology in-reach services.

The successful candidate will have a background in general cardiology with a subspecialty qualification in cardiac electrophysiology, brady-pacing, and the implantation and management of complex devices.

Main Responsibilities

The role will involve:

  • Supporting the cardiac pacing service at Kingston Hospital
  • Providing arrhythmia and general cardiology clinics
  • Covering inpatient care on the cardiology ward
  • Providing cardiology in-reach services

The Cardiology department at Kingston Hospital has expanded rapidly in recent years, providing a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic inpatient and outpatient cardiology services.

The new post has been created to meet the increased demands for high-quality cardiology care to be delivered locally.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
  • CCT in Cardiology
  • On GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of interview

Desirable qualifications include:

  • MD/PhD or MSc
Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience of general Cardiology and simple and complex cardiac device implantation

Desirable skills include:

  • Cardiac electrophysiology experience
Additional Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Diagnostics cardiac catheterisation
  • Evidence of Quality Improvement using Audit and Clinical Outcomes

Desirable skills include:

  • Evidence of service development
Management Skills

The successful candidate will have:

  • Attended management training course
  • Knowledge of finance/budgets
Training, Audit, and Research

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors
  • Experience of clinical audit and research

Desirable skills include:

  • Experience in supervising medical trainees
